Special arrangements for Srirama Navami

BHADRACHALAM March. 5. Special arrangements would be made to facilitate a trouble-free entry for devotees above the age of 60 into the Mithila Stadium, the venue of the celestial wedding to be performed as part of the Srirama Navami festival on April 11 in the temple town, according to the District Collector, Arvind Kumar on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting of the festival coordination committee here, he said the devotees coming to the town to witness the Sitarama Kalyanama would be paid due attention by the machinery involved in the arrangements.

He said over one lakh devotees were expected to throng the temple town for the occasion. Arrangements would be made in a befitting manner. The fortnight-long brahmotshavam to be celebrated on the occasion would commence on April 2. He said that the rush of devotees was expected to be more for three days from April 10. He wanted total involvement of the entire official machinery to make the arrangements a success. He said provision of drinking water and sanitation would be given top priority.

The Divisional Panchayat Officer would be entrusted with the task of sanitation in the temple town. The Kalyana Mantapam would be divided into 30 sectors for accommodating devotees during the Kalyanam. All the 120 rooms and 18 cottages available in the Devasthanams would be allotted to the devotees. The open places near the Vista complex would also be used for accommodating devotees. Special counters would be set up near the enclosures for distribution of `Mutyala Talambralu'.

Bathrooms would be set up on the river banks. The irrigation authorities would also be involved in the exercise to make sufficient water available for devotees taking a dip in the river. Uninterrupted supply of power has been sought from the Transco during the festival period. All the guesthouses which are under Government control from Kothagudem to Bhadrachalam would be taken over for the occasion. The Government departments would set up stalls to showcase their activities.

The temple trust board Chairman, Talluri Venkateswar Rao, said that efforts were being made to provide basic facilities in the town for the occasion. The Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer and the Sub-Collector, Peush Kumar, the OSD (Kothagudem), Pala Raju, and the temple Executive Officer, D. Muralidhar Reddy, were present on the occasion.
