France and Russia both veto wielding members of the Security Council declared that they had "identical views" on the crisis over Iraq's disarmament. Russia has already made it clear that it would not hesitate to use its veto powers to block a second resolution. Echoing the stand, Mr. de Villepin said France and Russia would "assume all their responsibilities" to stop a draft United States resolution allowing the use of force. The three countries reiterated their opposition to war saying there was still roo m for a political solution.
