7 ITBP jawans killed in avalanche

Dehra Dun March 6. Seven jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police force were killed and four injured in two avalanches triggered by a snowstorm at the forward posts, Point 16 and Sumna, near the Indo-Tibet border in Uttaranchal, a senior official said here today. And at least 20 jawans had a miraculous escape from the blizzard that struck on March 2.

Helicopters of the Indian Air Force were making repeated sorties to rescue the stranded jawans from the Malari-Rimkhim Axis.— PTI
