A statement to the effect was made by the Revenue Minister, P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, in the Assembly on Friday. The Government was trying to fulfil the necessary formalities. He was responding to a non-official resolution moved by the Leader of the Opposition, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, seeking that Nellore be renamed after the great personality. Dr Rajasekhara Reddy wanted the formalities completed "in two or three months'' but the Finance Minister, Y. Ramakrishnudu, explained they would hold a meeting of MLAs "within two or three days.''
