Around 10-45 a.m., the PCR received a call that around five people in a Toyota Qualis had kidnapped a person from Peera Garhi crossing bus shelter and were going towards Rohtak. The information was flashed to all the mobile vans. A PCR van based at Ghewra Mor intercepted the vehicle and rescued the victim, Vakil Chand. Two of the kidnappers, Jaipal Singh and Suresh, were arrested, while the third, Raj Kumar, managed to flee. Investigations revealed that Vakil Chand and the accused were involved in illicit trade of liquor. He was kidnapped as he could not pay the debt of Rs. 70,000 to the accused. According to the PCR officials, the duo has been handed over to the Paschim Vihar police.
Drug peddlers arrested
Two persons allegedly into drug trafficking were arrested with 50 kg ganja by the Old Delhi railway station police this week. The police had information that people coming from Guwahati to Delhi were indulging in smuggling of ganja through trains. Accordingly, police personnel were deployed at the railway stations. The effort bore fruit as Sub-Inspector Rakesh Kumar arrested Ripul Bajumtri, a resident of Assam, while he was standing near East Passenger Hall. SI Suresh recovered 20 kg ganja from his possession. In another incident, Bijay was arrested with 30 kg ganja kept in an iron box. During interrogation, he disclosed that he was a resident of Assam.
