The Electricity Minister, Kadavoor Sivadasan, said this committee would have the Chief Electrical Inspector, M. G. Rajagopal, as chairman. The other members include the KSEB's Member for Transmission, C. Abdulla, and a representative of the Central Power Research Institute. The committee would start its work on Sunday. The Minister said the power generation capacity in the State had come down by 300 MW because of the accident at Moozhiyar. The Government had earlier announced the lifting of load-shedding in the State from today till March 27 in view of the SSLC examinations. The Government would stick to this decision despite the crisis created by the mishap. He said the Government had signed an agreement with the Power Grid Corporation today for the purchase of the additional power required for lifting the load-shedding. Mr. Sivadasan appealed to the power consumers to lend their cooperation to tide over the present crisis. It would be a great help if every consumer were to use two lights and one fan less during the peak hours from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., he said. He also urged the consumers not to use electric heaters, mixies, grinders, washing machines and air conditioners during the peak hours.
