3 gangsters killed

MUMBAI MARCH 8. A gangster belonging to the Chota Shakeel gang was killed in an encounter. Acting on a tip-off that Mohd. Anwar alias Pappu would be arriving at Tardeo to eliminate the son of a businessman for not paying the extortion amount, policemen laid a trap. When asked to surrender, Anwar fired at the policemen, who retaliated. Anwar was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

In another operation, the crime branch unit gunned down two gangsters, Prakash Mudras and Parag Todkari, owing allegiance to the Arun Gawali gang, at Kanjurmarg in north-east Mumbai. — PTI
