World Cup
South Africa's convenor of selectors, Omar Henry, has publicly backed under-fire captain Shaun Pollock and coach Eric Simons after the side's early exit from the World Cup. "I fully back both the captain and the coach that has always been my position," Henry said. Some sections of the South African media have called for Pollock to be sacked after he failed to guide his team into the second round. Simons's position has also been questioned following South Africa's bungled runs calculations in the dramatic tie with Sri Lanka in Durban on Monday which cost them a place in the Super Sixes. Henry is currently arranging a meeting of the South African selectors for next week. The agenda has yet to be drawn up. "Every selector will have an opportunity to put forward their own thoughts we will be discussing everything and looking towards the future as well. We also have to pick squads for a one-day series in Sharjah, a full test and one-day series in Bangladesh and the A tour to Australia," Henry said.
