CM worships at Srirangam temple

By L. Renganathan

TIRUCHI MARCH 10. The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, offered worship at the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple on the last day today of her five-day camp at Tiruchi.

The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by her confidante, Sasikalaa, was received with temple honours at the main entrance.

She spent about 45 minutes in the temple complex.

She was in the sanctum sanctorum for about 10 minutes.

Ms. Jayalalithaa spoke to Narayana Jeer of the temple, priests and officials at the Santhanu Mandapam, just outside the sanctum sanctorum, where she was given prasadam.

The public and devotees were happy that temple officials and staff worked overtime to remove cobwebs and bird droppings, and that additional lighting was provided at a few shrines.

The ``annadanam enclosure'' wore a festive look.

The Chief Minister returned to Chennai by a special aircraft in the evening.
