Letters to the Editor
Sir, The recent comments of the Madras Chief Justice regarding the Government not providing adequate staff and funds for courts, is quite appropriate in the present situation. The Government has been announcing several projects costing several crores of rupees, but has been absolutely indifferent to the needs of the courts and justice citing "financial crunch". One has got to see the absolutely inadequate court halls in Magistrate Courts at Egmore, Saidapet and George Town. With the increase in the number of cases the space occupied by the Magistrate Courts is pathetically inadequate. At least now, the Government should wake up to its responsibilities and do the needful.
