T.N. Govt. moves SC for arresting journalist

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI MARCH 13. The Tamil Nadu Government has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court challenging an order of the Madras High Court granting anticipatory bail to the Editor of a Tamil bi-weekly, Nakkeeran Gopal, implicated in cases connected with forest brigand Veerappan.

Besides praying for quashing the impugned judgment, the petition sought the court's permission for custodial interrogation of Mr. Gopal.

The petition is expected to come up for hearing later this month.
