ITI pact with ZTE

NEW DELHI MARCH 13. Indian Telephone Industries (ITI), the country's largest manufacturer of telecom equipment, has signed an agreement with ZTE Limited of China for setting up of infrastructure for code division multiple access (CDMA) network. An MoU was signed by the ITI Chairman and Managing Director, S. K. Minocha, and Hiou Wei Gui, the ZTE President, according to an official news release.

The MoU envisages full assistance and collaboration on CDMA range of wireless in local loop (WiLL).

Both companies also agreed to indigenise and add new features to these products at the Bangalore plant of ITI. The two also agreed to explore market opportunities for the launching of these products.

The MoU followed the close collaboration between the two state-owned companies in the last few months. ITI has contributed to nearly 70 per cent of the present installed network in India while ZTE has installed 30 per cent of the network in China.

ITI is acquiring a competitive edge in the convergence market with a major thrust being placed on speedier implementation of new technologies and faster skill formation in new areas.

ITI has drawn a strategic business plan in order to increase focus on solution business and high value addition in telecom software business.
