Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
The president, M. Subramanian, said in a communication that though the Chief Minister had promised wage hike, nothing had been done to implement it. The rural organisers, who were getting only Rs. 1,200 a month, were on relay fast. The pay should be hiked to Rs. 3,700 as was assured.
AIADMK support
The AIADMK MLA, A. Anbalagan, accompanied by party functionaries, sat in a dharna on Friday along with rural organisers at the Bharathi Park here. Mr. Anbalagan, who addressed the agitators, charged the administration with ignoring their demands though the rural organisers were being utilised to do full-time job to implement the anti-poverty programmes. The strength of the rural organisers was only 89. Hence, the Chief Minister should issue orders immediately on wage hike.
