Intervention in Iraq war ruled out

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD MARCH. 15. The Defence Minister, George Fernandes, has ruled out military intervention by India in the Iraq war. Talking to mediapersons in Surat, where he had come to inaugurate a cooperative bank branch, Mr. Fernandes said the people of India, however, would feel an impact in the event of a war breaking out in Iraq. The prices of crude oil and the resultant increase in the prices of various commodities would be the likely fall-out on India.

But he said militarily, there would be no impact on India in the Iraq war.
