Court directive to Punjab CM

Shimla March. 15. A local court today directed the Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, to appear in person before April 5 in a defamation case filed by the former Himachal Chief Minister, P. K. Dhumal.

The other respondents — AICC general secretry, Moti Lal Vora, and the party spokesman, Anand Sharma— appeared in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, A. S. Jaswal, and furnished personal bond of Rs. 25,000 and security of similar amount. The court accepted the surety and the bond and asked them to appear in the court on the next hearing.

The court observed that there was no security threat and Mr. Singh must appear in the court.
