Excavations: Wakf Board to go to court

By Our Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW MARCH 18. The Central Sunni Wakf Board has decided to move the court against the Ayodhya excavations.

Its lawyers are planning to file a petition when the Allahabad High Court reopens on March 21 after the Holi holidays. According to Abdul Mannan, counsel of the Waqf Board, the team conducting the excavations had not shown the "expected impartiality" in its work.

Jafaryab Jilani, another counsel for the Board, alleged that Muslims had not been included in the team of labourers engaged by the ASI for the excavation work as "part of a conspiracy.'' According to Muslim leaders, the passions being whipped up by the VHP could disturb communal harmony and peace at Ayodhya and Faizabad.
