Allowing two criminal petitions by Mr. Mani challenging the order passed by the Sessions Judge, Mysore, rejecting his petition for bail, Justice K. Bhakvatsala imposed certain conditions on the petitioner. Mr. Mani has to execute a bond for Rs. 1 lakh with two sureties for a like amount, mark attendance in the Kollegal rural police station once in 10 days and attend the court regularly whenever summoned. With this, Mr. Mani has obtained bail in all the five cases registered against him by the Karnataka police. On November 28, 2002, Justice H.N. Narayan had passed orders enlarging Mr. Mani in three cases registered by the Ramapura, Chamarajanagar East and Kollegal rural police stations. All the cases registered against Mr. Mani pertain to his alleged association with the forest brigand, Veerappan. Police alleged that Mr. Mani was supplying arms, ammunition, explosives and other material to Veerappan. He was taken into custody by the STF from the Chengadi forest in Chamarajanagar district on March 8, 2002.
