War protesters target finals

Anti-war campaigners are planning to target Sunday's final at The Wanderers to protest against the U.S.-led coalition strikes on Iraq.

``The Australian government, despite widespread opposition from the public, has come out firmly in support of the U.S.-led war and the (coalition) wants to use the World Cup as an opportunity to support the Australian people against the government's warmongering,'' said South Africa's Anti-War Coalition spokesman Salim Vally.

Vally anticipated hundreds of protesters gathering in a ``sizable and very visible'' demonstration starting an hour before the match starts at 10 a.m. local time (0800 GMT).
