Budget a worse bombshell: Karunanidhi

By Our Staff Reporter

DINDIGUL MARCH 22 . The DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, today said the announcements in the Tamil Nadu budget were worse than the bombshells which pounded Iraq.

Even as the U.S. bombshells fell on Iraq, the State Government released budget bombs on the people of Tamil Nadu, he said addressing a huge gathering at Moonjikkal at Kodaikanal town.

Referring to the demolition, in the wee hours today, of a concrete structure put up for the meeting (but officials allowed partymen to erect a temporary dais nearby), Mr. Karunanidhi said "I will speak before the public even without any platform. I convey my thanks to the State Government who gave wide publicity to me, by demolishing the dais. Otherwise, my visit (to Kodaikanal) would have been covered only in local editions.'' "Enakku vayathagirathu, ippozhuthu iditthuparakka ninaikka koodathu," he said sarcastically.

Partymen both Stalin and Azhagiri groups, gave rousing a welcome to the DMK chief at Oothu, Ghat road, Genguvarpatti, Batlagundu, Iyyampalayam, Sempatti and the Dingidul-Karur bus pass road.

Mr. Karunanidhi, who had arrived at Kodaikanal on March 14, left for Tiruchi later today.
