Curbs on recruitment

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. The Expenditure wing of the Union Finance Ministry has sent out a notice that fresh recruitment will be restricted to one-third of the vacancies that arise in government jobs. A total of 30,000 posts in 21 Ministries had been identified for abolition. While promotions and deputations would not be affected, the sanctions for fresh posts would be given only when matching savings were shown. The Central Board of Excise and Customs had to surrender about 1,000 posts to get sanction for new posts.
