Letters to the Editor
Sir, This is with reference to the article on Advanced Jet Trainers (March 13). The nation has already lost innumerable young trainee pilots and Rs. 12,000 crores, in fiscal terms, in military aircraft crashes for which a lack of advanced training infrastructure has been cited as a major cause. Is a nation, which is being supported by major European countries for a seat in the U.N. Security Council, going to overlook its immediate security needs? Contenders like L159 B and Hawk have made several lucrative offers and it is time the Defence Ministry made up its mind on the issue which has been pending since the 1980s.
Priyanka Thakur,
