RTC buses to have complaint boxes

HYDERABAD March 24. The State Government is to provide complaint boxes in the APSRTC buses, M. Damodar Reddy, Tranport Minister, stated in a written reply to the Assembly on Monday.

He said the mechanical in charge of an RTC depot would collect complaints/suggestions dropped in the complaint box on return of the bus to the depot. He would hand them over to the depot manager's office. The depot manager would acknowledge them immediately and send replies to the complainants on the action taken within three days from the date of receipt.

Proposals on industries: K. Vidyadhar Rao, Major Industries Minister, informed G. Uma (TDP) that the State had received 1,013 new proposals for setting up industries with an investment of Rs. 61,210 crores, providing employment to 113,980 persons.

He said from April 1, 2000, onwards 223 large and medium industries were established with investment worth Rs. 3,818 crores, providing employment to 33,149 persons. From the same date, 105,107 tiny and SSI units were established, with an investment of Rs. 2,342.64 crores, providing employment to 497,803 persons.

WB assistance: Replying to a question tabled by G. Nagesh and K.Vankat Rao (TDP), Mr. Rao stated that preliminary discussions were held with World Bank representatives regarding assistance for projects proposed in the Godavari Basin. A presentation was made to the bank in January 2002. Further possibilities would be explored after receipt of necessary clearances from the Central Water Commission.

Fluoride problem: The Panchayat Raj Minister, N. Janardhan Reddy, told K. Satyanarayana (BJP) that groundwater in five villages of Sangareddy constituency (Medak district) were found to contain fluoride. These villages were being supplied water under PWS schemes.
