Assurance on Lloyd's Colony building

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI MARCH 24. The Chennai Corporation will initiate steps to utilise the building constructed at Lloyd's Colony at the cost of Rs. 1 crore using MP local area development funds, the Deputy Mayor, `Karate' R.Thiagarajan, has said today.

Speaking at a conference organised to commemorate the World TB Day at Pitti Thyagaraya Hall, Mr.Thiagarajan said the South Chennai MP, T.R.Baalu, had raised the issue of the facilities built using his funds not being properly utilised by the Corporation. He recalled that the ITI started by the Corporation during the previous regime could not be sustained because the previous administration had not evinced interest in getting the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) certificate. The Deputy Mayor said the facility would not go to waste and the civic agency would find some use for the same.
