'Kuwait denied visa to Shahi Imam'

New Delhi March 24. The Kuwait Embassy today said the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, who has threatened to demonstrate against Kuwait for providing logistic support to the U.S. troops in their war against Iraq, was denied visa to visit the country some time ago.

Khalid Razni, Director (Information) of the embassy, told mediapersons that the Shahi Imam, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, wanted to go to Kuwait to collect funds for his activities but the Mission denied him permission.

This has angered the Shahi Imam, who has now planned to hold demonstrations outside the embassy, he said.
