Chief guest absent at Pak. Embassy reception

By Our Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI MARCH 24. The Lt. Governor of Delhi, Vijai Kapoor, did not turn up at the Pakistani National Day reception at the Pakistan High Commission this evening, though he was the `chief guest'. According to official sources, Mr. Kapoor did not grace the reception since Pakistan is not represented at the level of High Commissioner. As far as India is concerned, Islamabad is represented by a Charge d'Affaires and not by an "Acting High Commissioner."

From the Government side, Arun Singh, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, attended the reception.

From the All-Party Hurriyat Conference, Maulvi Abbas Ansari, was present.
