Letters to the Editor
Sir, I disagree with the views expressed by S. Bhaktavatsalam in his letter "Scrap the scheme" March 19 as the remedy is not in scrapping the scheme but in rectifying the mistakes, if any. The MPs and MLAs need only recommend schemes. The collector should implement them. People would be benefited if small schemes could be realised without delay. The argument that the MP/MLA fund would lead to corruption is unacceptable. There are rules and regulations and auditing is also carried out. MPs should also be authorised to help patients who are seriously ill and also those who are affected by calamities.
