Russia expresses anguish

By Vladimir Radyuhin

MOSCOW MARCH 26. Russia has strongly condemned the recent massacre at Nadimarg in Jammu and Kashmir and backed India's crackdown on terrorist outfits. The Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow noted with ``anguish and indignation'' the terrorist attack.

``The aim of this crime against the Hindu community was to aggravate the situation in the State (and) undermine the efforts of the Indian Government and local authorities to bring peace and tranquillity to Jammu and Kashmir,'' the Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

``Resolutely condemning terrorism in all its manifestations, Russia supports measures being undertaken in India to curb the activity of forces espousing terrorism.''
