A department release today said the revised syllabi would be available on the web site http://www.tn.gov.in/schoolsyllabus. The department has invited educationists, teachers, parents, students, non-governmental organisations and others to send in constructive suggestions. The release noted that the revision was undertaken with the objective of enabling students to cope with the modern trends in science and technology and satisfy their future social needs. A high-level committee has been constituted to revise the syllabi of all subjects in standards VI-XII. In 2003-04, new textbooks would be introduced for all subjects in standards VI and XI and for standard X in Tamil language alone; in 2004-05 for standards VII, X and XI and in 2005-06, all subjects in standards VIII and XII. The Director of School Education welcomed suggestions in the form of revised or developed effective contents based on this syllabi on any subject partly or wholly. Urging all sections to participate in the efforts taken by the department to raise the educational standards in the State to the international level, it urged them to offer their suggestions to K. Mariappan, Joint Director (Personnel), Directorate of School Education, Chennai 600 006, either by post or by e-mail to "dirsedu@tn.nic.in"
