Conspiracy must be exposed: Congress

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI MARCH 26. The Congress has condemned the killing of former Gujarat Home Minister, Haren Pandya, and said, ``in the interest of justice an inquiry must be conducted either by a sitting judge of the High Court or the CBI.''

`` There is a need for a transparent and credible inquiry in order to determine the real culprit,'' said the party spokesperson, Jaipal Reddy.

He made it clear that the inquiry should ensure that no angle was excluded from the scope of the investigation.

Mr. Reddy raised the issue of withdrawal of security to Mr. Pandya and said that the people must know why this was done. ``We do not want to encourage speculation. But behind every killing there is a conspiracy and that must be exposed'' he said.

Ahmed Patel, Congress Working Committee Member and Rajya Sabha member from the State, wondered how ordinary citizens could feel safe in the State when a former Home Minister could be killed so brutally.

``I express my heartful condolences to the bereaved family,'' he said.
