Togadia sees jehadis' hand in Pandya's murder

By Our Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL MARCH 26. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader, Pravin Togadia, today described the assassination of the former Gujarat Home Minister, Haren Pandya, as a cowardly act and alleged that the ``jehadis'' could be behind the murder.

Mr. Togadia, who was here to address a protest dharna against the recent arrest of VHP leader, Acharya Dharmendra, at Dewas near Indore, was talking to a group of presspersons. He alleged that ``the jehadis'' were behind the recent Mumbai train blast, massacre of two-dozen Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir and the murder of Haren Pandya. Mr. Togadia said the Central Government should take immediate steps to close all madrassas, which were being used to train terrorists.

Addressing those sitting on dharna in front of the VHP office here, Mr. Togadia said ``this is no time to remain a mute spectator''. India should emulate the United States and wage a war against terrorism by attacking Pakistan. ``It is unfortunate that we are being advised to resume dialogue with Pakistan, whereas Iraq has been attacked, completely disregarding the role that could have been played by the United Nations and the Security Council.''
