Letters to the Editor
Sir, The killing of Kashmiri Pandits by terrorists is most condemnable. The effort to spread communal poison by indulging in such murders will not succeed. The People's Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL) extends its heartfelt grief to the bereaved members of the family. It calls upon the Central and State Governments to spare no effort to locate the guilty so that they could be given the maximum punishment. Governments must also take full steps to protect the lives of Kashmiri Pandits and others. In this tragedy it is heartening to see how Muslims in the locality and in the valley have hastened to share the grief of the families of the victims and their efforts at giving reassurance to their Hindu brothers. The Centre cannot be absolved from its remissness at not having provided adequate security to the small number of Kashmiri Pandits still living in the State. This tragedy should make all of us hasten to find a satisfactory solution to the Kashmir problem.
Rajindar Sachar,
