Bengal House pat for Sourav

By Our Special Correspondent

Kolkata March 27. Back home from the one-and-a-half month outing in the just-concluded World Cup cricket in South Africa, India's captain Sourav Ganguly was praised in the West Bengal Assembly today.

Cutting across party lines, the members adopted a unanimous resolution congratulating Ganguly and his team for what they said excellent performance in the World Cup.

When Robin Deb, CPI(M), showered praises on Ganguly, members, cutting across party lines, supported him wholeheartedly. Moving the resolution, Mr. Deb said the House was proud of Ganguly.

The Urban Development Minister, Ashok Bhattacharya, said the Indian team had failed to win the cup but its performance made the country proud.

He said the State Government would felicitate Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Javagal Srinath in Kolkata on April 4.
