National interests sacrificed: Swamy

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI MARCH 27. " The Vajpayee Government has sacrificed national interests by its waffle on the Iraq war", said the president of the Janata Party, Subramanian Swamy here today. Talking to newsmen, he said the Centre's stand was neither here nor there. If India had supported the U.S. action `unconditionally' and offered to send two divisions of the Army and a squadron of the Air Force to Iraq to help assist the U.S.-led coalition, it could have got a promise in return that after the war the U.N. Security Council would be reconstituted to make India a permanent veto-holding member.
