Rural organisers made daily wage staff

Pondicherry March 27 . The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, today issued orders converting the 91 Rural Organisers of the Department of Rural Development from honorarium-based employees into daily wage workers.

The orders were issued on the recommendation of the Local Administration Minister, A. Elumalai, a communication from the Minister's office said today.

All along, the organisers were getting a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 1200.They had resorted to a long drawn out agitation involving relay fast, dharna and picketing in the last few months. Now, each worker would get a daily pay of Rs. 129 and not exceeding Rs 3354 a month.
