Jains get minority status

Lucknow MarCH 27. The Jain community was today granted minority status in Uttar Pradesh. A Cabinet meeting took the decision and the status was granted under the U.P. Minority Commission Act 1994, an official spokesman said.

The decision would pave the way for their social and educational development.
