German national still held hostage

IMPHAL MARCH 27. Despite telephonic assurances to newspaper offices by a spokesperson of the Kuki Liberation Army, the militant group has failed to release the German national, Heinrich Wolfgang, who was kidnapped on March 23.

The group has demanded Rs. one crore ransom for Mr. Wolfgang's safe release.

A ranking official of the German embassy is camping here. According to a police official, NGOs are negotiating with the KLA and a breakthrough is expected any moment.
