About 10,000 of them were selected through the District Selection Committee (DSC) test last year and the remaining were those whose service could not be regularised in the earlier years due to lack of training. Giving this assurance to the Assembly during question hour on Thursday, the School Education Minister, M. Venkateswara Rao, said the Government has taken the permission of the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to prepare special training modules for them through the distance mode for a two-year period. Their training programme will be coordinated by the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) and the State Council for Education and Training (SCERT). Mr. Rao said the distance mode of training was contemplated for them as the existing DIETs did not have the intake capacity to train 14,000 candidates. The BJP MLA, K. Satyanarayana, said the vacant teacher posts of ST women were being filled by candidates of general category for the last three years in Medak district. He demanded that they be filled by tribal men. Aquaculture shrimp: The Fisheries Minister, N. Narasimha Rao, said a proposal to set up agri-export zone in Bhimavaram to promote export of aquaculture shrimp was made to the Central Government. Replying to a question by P. Varalaxmi (TDP), he denied culturing of a new variety of shrimp `Vanami' in aquaculture ponds of the State. The Central Government had given permission to two hatcheries at Chennai and Nellore to import the seed from South American countries but they did not give any commitment to the Centre to follow the guidelines for culturing. Public conveniences in the city: The Municipal Administration Minister, B.V. Mohan Reddy, said sites were being identified for construction of a hundred public conveniences on BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis in the city. They will have bathrooms, urinals and wash basins with separate entrances for men and women like in Delhi. They will come up after the Government permission is obtained. Sobha Nagi Reddy (TDP) called for public conveniences in commercial complexes. Hero Honda factory near Patancheru: The Major Industries Minister, K. Vidyadhar Rao, said the Government is negotiating with Hero Honda to set up a unit on the National Highway near Patancheru. Desiltation work in Nellore canals: The Major and Medium Irrigation Minister, K. Srihari, said many canals of tanks in Nellore town were defunct and used as drainages by the municipality.
