According to Railway officials, the train from Chennai and another one laden with cement bags were stationed in the goods yard of the Erode railway station last night. The Kerala-bound train plied on the same track on which the cement-laden wagons were stationed. The former's engine hit the stationary wagons and two empty oil tankers got derailed. All the express trains moving towards Chennai from Coimbatore were stopped for three hours and the Railway officials cleared the track. Our Chennai Special Correspondent reports: Train services on the Chennai Central - Jolarpettai section continued to remain affected for the second day today following the derailment at Katpadi. While the Chennai Central - Coimbatore Inter-City Express, the Chennai - Jolarpettai Yelagiri Express and the Coimbatore-Chennai Kovai Express were cancelled today, the departure of the Chennai-Bangalore Lalbagh Express, the Chennai-Alleppey Express and Chennai-Trivandrum Superfast Mail was delayed.
