Extension fee rules modified

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH MARCH 27. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has decided to introduce a new public-friendly extension policy under which the allottees would be required to pay extension fees only on a quarterly basis instead of the whole year.

The decision was taken at the HUDA meeting presided over by the Town and Country Planning Minister, Dhirpal Singh, here today.

Mr.Singh said that if one completes construction during the first quarter -- that is, up to March 31 -- then he or she would have to pay one-fourth of the extension fee rather than for the whole year. Similarly, the person who is able to complete construction up to the second quarter -- that is, up to June 30 -- then he would have to pay extension fee for two quarters of the year and not for the full year. Therefore, he added, the allottees would get a lot of relief and would not be under undue pressure to complete their constructions before December 31.

It has also been decided that HUDA would construct buildings of 21 primary schools, eight senior secondary schools, 16 dispensaries, one hospital, 20 police posts, five police stations, 33 community centres and three clubs during the next financial year. HUDA would also construct a number of parks and green belts in various urban estates of the State to improve environmental conditions. It was informed that 2700 acres of land would be acquired during the next financial year in various Urban Estates for development of more sectors for residential, institutional and commercial purposes. The budget targets for the next financial year were also approved at the meeting. The total receipt had been targeted for Rs.1215.73 crores as against the target of Rs.1108.38 crores for the year 2002-2003.About Rs.310 crores would be spent on developmental works.
