In a press release here on Thursday, the ACB Director-General, A.K. Mohanty, said the crime investigation unit conducted simultaneous searches on the houses belonging to Syed Fahemuddin, RTA/Assistant Transport Commissioner, Central Zone (Khairatabad), that led to disclosure of assets worth Rs. 75 lakhs. The properties were in the form of houses, flats and plots in and around the city, LIC policies worth Rs. 7.5 lakhs, bank balances, and cars. Bank lockers were yet to be opened and verified and the assets were in the name of the official and members of his family. In the second case, assets worth Rs. 25 lakhs belonging to D. Nagamani, Joint Director (under suspension), Bureau of Economics and Statistics, were found. Flats, houses, chits, cars and household articles were found in the city and at Ranga Reddy district.
Two officials in net
Sleuths of the ACB caught P. Subba Rao, working as an Additional Assistant Engineer, A.P. Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd, Machilipatnam, when he allegedly demanded and accepted Rs. 1,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour. He was arrested and released on bail. A senior assistant, T. Venkataiah, working in the MRO's office, Vinukonda mandal of Guntur district, was trapped by officials when he allegedly accepted Rs. 2,000 from a fair price shop dealer for processing a file. He was arrested and released on bail.
