Dravid, Tendulkar pulls out of triangular series

Chennai March 31. Vice-captain and Indian cricket team's one-day wicket-keeper, Rahul Dravid has pulled out of the forthcoming triangular series involving India, Bangladesh and South Africa, to be played at Dhaka from April 11.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary S.K. Nair speaking from Thiruvananthapuram by telephone said that the Karnataka star had submitted a letter about his inability to participate in Dhaka due to a finger injury sustained during the World Cup in South Africa.

According to Mr. Nair, Dravid had stated in his letter that it would take two to three weeks for him to recover fully from the injury.

He added that left-arm medium-pacer Aasish Nehra would not be available as he will be undergoing surgery as part of the treatment for his knee injury.

The Indian team for the Dhaka tournament will be announced on April two in Mumbai, he confirmed.

Brijesh Patel the chairman of selectors said in Bangalore along with Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Javagal Srinath too have opted out. "Srinath and Sachin (Tendulkar) stated their need for rest and have opted out of the tri series,'' Brijesh Patel said.
