NEW DELHI: In one of the biggest recognition for Bollywood in France, after last year's screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas at the Cannes film festival, the `Shahenshah of Bollywood' Amitabh Bachchan was conferred with the honorary citizenship of the French town of Deauville at the fifth edition of the Asian film festival held recently. The Superstar of the Millennium was accorded this honour by the Mayor of Deauville, Philippe Augier, at a public reception for his contribution to Indian films, a report in the French publication, The New Republic, said. Amitabh also launched a retrospective of his films with the screening of G.P. Sippy's 1970s blockbuster Sholay. UNI
