Members of Parliament in both Houses welcomed the announcement made by the Minister of State for Space, Satyabrata Mukherjee, with thumping of desks. Mr. Mukherjee informed Parliament that the satellite was launched at 04.22 IST by Ariane vehicle and that it separated from the vehicle at 04.52 IST. The signals were acquired at the INSAT master control facility (MCF) at Hassan, Karnataka. The satellite was currently in the geo-synchronous transfer orbit of 36,055 km by 859 km with an inclination of 1.99 degrees with respect to the equator.
