CBI sends reply to Portugal on Salem

NEW Delhi April 10. The CBI today said the information sought by the Portuguese authorities on underworld don, Abu Salem, whose extradition India is seeking, has been sent to Lisbon.

A spokesman said that the information on Salem and his girlfriend, Monica Bedi had been sent to the authorities in Lisbon through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs. He said the Portuguese authorities had sent a letters rogatory to India on March 17 this year, seeking details of the cases registered against the duo, who are in jail custody in Lisbon. The CBI conducted investigations and collected the requisite information and documents relating to cases registered against the duo by the Mumbai, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Goa police, besides Income Tax and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, the spokesman said.
