dated 13th & 15th April, 1953: Promoting Fine Arts

Speaking in Tanjore at a Fine Arts Exhibition and Arts Festival at the Serfoji Palace venue, the Chief Minister, Mr. Rajagopalachari, said: "Let us have an eye for art. Let us try to preserve, even if we are not able to build afresh, that which is beautiful." The sponsors of the Festival planned to institute a permanent Art Gallery inside the Palace, and renovate the Sangeetha Mahal, an auditorium with remarkable acoustics in the Palace.
