Eight jawans killed

By K. Balchand

PATNA APRIL 15. At least eight Bihar Military Police jawans, including the officer-in-charge of the Govindpur police station, Shailendra Ram, were killed and one person was injured when their patrol jeep was blown up with landmines on the Fatehpur-Govindpur Road of Nawada district by the banned MCC today.

The MCC made good with six SLRs, two rifles and a revolver besides ammunition, in a strike carried out in less than 24 hours after the attack on the police outpost at the Chandrapura Railway station in Bokaro district of neighbouring Jharkhand State, from where they had decamped with 23 rifles yesterday.

The Bihar and the Jharkhand police have launched a joint manhunt to nab the outlawed activists.
