Crisis in tea industry continues

AGARTALA APRIL 18. The crisis in the tea industry has worsened following the closure of ten gardens. A few more are on the verge of closure. The industry, which has been passing through a bad patch for the last four years, has suffered a loss of Rs. 42 crores. According to the Tea Association of India, insurgency and the downward pricing in the tea auctioning have caused the crisis. It has urged the State Government to reduce the agricultural tax.
