A.P., Karnataka hold talks on Jurala project

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD APRIL 22 . The Jurala hydel project has brought both Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh together while Paragodu divided them.

An official delegation from the Energy Department of Karnataka, led by its Executive Director for projects, C.V.V. Subrahmanyam, held prolonged discussions on Monday with their counterparts in AP Genco regarding the cost-benefit components of the hydel station to come up in Mahabubnagar district based on the Jurala project on the Krishna.

The agreement reached was that the AP Genco would execute the 234-MW capacity plant as its own with the arrangement to allocate 50 per cent of the benefit, generation, to Karnataka which would evacuate its share through buying. The meeting noted that only one party had responded to the international bids called for execution of the project.
