Finance Bill to be put to vote on April 30

NEW DELHI APRIL 22. The Finance Bill will be put to vote in the Lok Sabha on April 30 immediately after the Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, replies to the debate scheduled to start on April 28.

The Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha today finalised the dates for the remaining part of the important financial business this session. Detailed discussions on the demands for grants of seven ministries is being taken up in Parliament this year and the guillotine will be applied to the rest at noon on April 25 in the Lok Sabha.

For the last several years for one reason or another Parliament could not discuss the details of budgets of more than two or three ministries but this year those of seven ministries will be discussed.

Discussions on demands for grants of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Agriculture and Labour have already taken place and over the next two days discussions are scheduled in the Lok Sabha on the Ministry of External Affairs (April 23) and Youth Affairs and Sports (April 24) while the Rajya Sabha, which has no jurisdiction over a money Bill, will discuss the functioning of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (April 28) and Communications and Information Technology (April 30).
