Sonia writes to Vajpayee on Women's Bill

NEW DELHI APRIL 22. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, has urged the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, to ensure the passage of the "long-pending'' Women's Reservation Bill at the earliest, and once again placed on record her party's support for such a legislation.

In a letter to Mr. Vajpayee, she reiterated her party's support for the Bill. Stating that representatives of a number of national and State-level women's organisations had sought the Congress support for the passage of the Bill, she wrote to him on Monday: "I shall be grateful if your Government will take early action ."
